Former executive director of Michigan shelter indicted for embezzlement

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A grand jury has indicted the former executive director of a Michigan shelter on a criminal charge of embezzlement, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan.

Teri Lyn Looney, 53, of Dimondale, is accused of embezzling around $95,000 from SIREN Eaton Shelter in Charlotte while she served as the nonprofit’s executive director between June 2021 and May 2023.

According to the attorney’s office, Looney was responsible for the bulk of the shelter’s operations — including its budget and cash reserves…
