STAFFORD, N.Y. — Fire crews battled a second-alarm fire at a cottage in Stafford in Genesee County Saturday.
According to Stafford Fire Chief Tim Eckdahl, when crews got there, they saw heavy fire coming from the cottage, and the living room was fully engulfed.
Eckdahl said the cottage is located off Seven Springs Road in Stafford where they maintain their own roads and have no fire hydrants. Fire crews had to lay out 2,000 – 3,000 feet of a five inch hose from the road to put out the fire.
Everybody was out of the cottage by the time crews arrived, and the homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation, Eckdahl said. He said one dog didn’t make it out, who they believe died. He said he believes another dog was able to make it out, who they saw running around outside when they got there…
