BICYCLIST FLEES POLICE, STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN SOUTH SACRAMENTO

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — A late-night police stop turned into a pursuit and crash early Friday when a bicyclist ran a red light and collided with a vehicle in South Sacramento, authorities said.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, just after 12:30 a.m. on August 28, officers attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle near 24th Street and Fruitridge Road for a traffic violation. The rider refused to stop and pedaled into the intersection against a red light, where he struck a vehicle.

Police said the suspect immediately fled the scene on foot but was detained a short distance away. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
