Illinois I-294 Shooting: 61-Year-Old Michigan Man Killed Friday Night Near Mile Marker 1.5

South Holland, IL – A Michigan man was pronounced dead Friday night after suffering a gunshot wound on Interstate 294 in South Holland, according to officials.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office reported that 61-year-old Kevin M. O’Shea, a resident of Howell, Michigan, was transported to Munster Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities said O’Shea sustained a fatal gunshot wound, though the manner of death remains pending.

According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the shooting occurred near mile marker 1.5 on the southbound side of I-294 around 10:11 p.m. Emergency personnel from Illinois State Police, South Holland EMS and the South Holland Fire Department responded to the scene.
