A look of shock spread over Ingleside Garden Club member Jean Joyce’s face when she was presented with a National Garden Clubs’ Member of Honor Award on Aug. 27 at the Humble Center.
“All the wonderful work that you have accomplished for your community and for your club –what this honor represents is your hard work and devotion to your community and to your club members,” said Gwen DeWitt, past president of the Texas Garden Clubs, who presented the award to Joyce. “It was a privilege to get to present her with the National Member of Honor Award.”
The National Garden Club consists of groups across the nation and Texas is part of the South Central chapter that also includes Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico. Joyce was awarded the South Central Member of Honor award, which then went to the national level…
