ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Just days after the abrupt firing of the director, the appointment of a new one and the employee fallout from the termination, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. penned a letter to CDC employees, pledging his committment to the restoring “trust, transparency, and credibility” to the agency.
Kennedy’s letter comes after Dr. Susan Monarez, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate, was fired from her role as the CDC’s director. She was sworn in on July 31 — less than a month ago, making her the shortest-serving CDC director in the history of the 79-year-old agency.
