Turlock mayor requests PG&E to adjust construction hours on Geer Road

(FOX40.COM) — The City of Turlock sent a letter to Patricia Poppe, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, on Tuesday regarding the utility’s construction project on Geer Road. • Video above: Commuters can soon expect to see a portion of Highway 50 closed for construction

City officials said the letter represents the next step in the city’s effort to communicate with PG&E after having multiple discussions with the company’s staff and it has not resulted in adjustments to the current construction schedule.

“Our community deserves solutions that balance the need for infrastructure improvements withthe everyday realities of traffic, business, and quality of life,” said Mayor Amy Bublak. “We will continue to work toward an approach that best serves Turlock residents and business owners.”

Bublak stated she requested PG&E revise its work hours from daytime, which was Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to an evening schedule to reduce disruptions for residents, businesses, and commuters.

“Geer Road is one of Turlock’s busiest thoroughfares,” said Bublak to Poppe in a letter. The current daytime construction schedule is causing significant disruption for residents, businesses, and commuters. A night schedule would reduce these impacts while allowing PG&E to complete the necessary work in a more efficient and less disruptive manner.”…
