Hays County Seeks Resident Input in Overhaul of Development Regulations through Open-House Meetings

Hays County is taking proactive steps to involve the public as it embarks on a significant overhaul of its Development Regulations, last revised over 15 years ago. The initiative, which is expected to shape the county’s growth and address critical issues like water resources and environmental protection, includes a series of open-house meetings slated for Tuesday, Sept. 2. These sessions are designed to collect resident feedback on the future of their communities.

At Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Wimberley Community Center, residents will have the chance, during the afternoon from 2 to 3:30 p.m., to engage with county staff and representatives from consulting firm Freese and Nichols, Inc., hired to revamp the regulations. With an eye on ensuring the regulations address current and future needs, the county is emphasizing dialogue with its residents. Following the daytime events, similar meetings will take place at the City of Buda Multipurpose Room and San Marcos Library, offering another opportunity for community members to participate, set similarly from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“This is a vital process in revision,” Hays County Development Services Director Marcus Pacheco explained. “We want the community involved not just during this initial stage, but throughout the project.
