A U.S. Airman from Jacksonville, Florida, is home with his family this Labor Day weekend, all because one Boston woman who knows what it’s like to miss her son.
“Miles for Military” is a non-profit that lets active-duty service members from all branches trade volunteer hours at a charity of their choice for flights home for holidays and other moments that matter — flights they often would not be able to afford, otherwise. It’s a labor of love that was born from a simple conversation between Maureen Byrne and her son, Ronan, who said, “‘Mom, nobody goes home.'”
