ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County commissioners are moving forward with plans to install speed detection cameras in school zones across the county.
Discussions began at the end of 2024, when county commissioners asked staff to conduct traffic studies at different schools across the county. Staff narrowed it down to two schools per district they believe have higher safety risks and would benefit from having speed enforcement cameras installed in the school zones.
The enforcement period begins 30 minutes before through 30 minutes after school is in session. Drivers will be fined $100 per citation for driving ten miles an hour over the school zone speed limit…
