Walking for Rochester hosts cleanup event to tackle litter in rivers and trails

Rochester, N.Y. — The nonprofit organization Walking for Rochester is hosted a program on Sunday aimed at removing litter from the Genesee River and trails.

The event marks a significant milestone in the group’s ongoing efforts to create a cleaner and more sustainable city, one cleanup at a time.

“This is a combination of boaters and shoreline walkers to pick up the debris that is in our waterways,” said Matt Apple, cofounder and CEO of Walking for Rochester. “The Genesee River is one of our most prominent waterways and we need to take care of it. We got a lot of great people out here to support that.”…
