COLUMBIA, S.C. — The mother of a 16-year-old female has been arrested after Department of Juvenile Justice officials say the youth escaped from the Juvenile Detention Complex in Columbia Sunday evening.
Officials with the agency said the youth was found in a car with her mother after a search by South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice Police Department, with assistance from Columbia Police, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
The mother, Savannah Mills, has been charged with aiding the escape of a prisoner and was booked into Alvin S Glenn Detention Center. The youth was returned to the Juvenile Detention Center Complex and charged with escape…
