Altamonte Springs Police Seek Fresh Leads on 2004 Cold Case of Susan Perkins’ Death

The Altamonte Springs Police Department is rekindling efforts to solve a 2004 cold case involving the tragic death of Susan Perkins, who was fatally injured in an attempted escape from an armed kidnapping. Reflecting on the incident that occurred 21 years ago on August 31, authorities and loved ones continue their appeal for any tips that might bring closure to Perkins’ family.

Perkins and a friend were reportedly at work inside a salon on Maitland Avenue when a masked assailant, armed with a rifle, coerced them into Perkins’ vehicle. According to FOX 35 Orlando, the suspect directed them to the Washington Mutual Bank’s ATM, where he forced a withdrawal of funds.

Subsequently, the assailant ordered both women into the trunk of the red Ford Focus. As the vehicle departed the bank, both victims smartly managed to open the emergency release and jumped from the moving car. Perkins suffered severe head trauma during her escape, leading to her untimely death…
