Arson suspect arrested after Homewood Walmart fire causes $130,000 in damages

HOMEWOOD, Ala. — A Birmingham man was arrested in connection with a fire that caused over $130,000 in damages at a Walmart in Homewood.

The Homewood Police Department said 40-year-old Mercutio Terrell Southall, who it described as a known activist, faces charges of first-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief.
