(WKRG) — Labor Day gives many people a chance to relax, but others started the day early in downtown Mobile for the annual Labor Day parade hosted by the Southwest Alabama Labor Council.

This year’s parade took a new route, starting on Lawrence Street and looping through downtown along Government, Royal and St. Francis streets before ending near Canal Street.
Some traditions stayed the same, like floats tossing paper towels and toilet paper into the crowd. For some paradegoers, like Johnetta Stallworth, it’s a highlight.
