The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center reports that a coronal mass ejection from the sun is expected to spark moderate to strong geomagnetic storm conditions through Tuesday morning. Clear skies tonight along Lake Erie improve the chances of spotting the aurora, which could appear green or purple depending on storm intensity.
“For the best viewing, residents should head to areas away from city lights and use designated pull-offs rather than stopping along busy highways,” officials advised.
Drivers along I-90 and other major roadways should remain alert, as distracted motorists may slow or pull over to catch the skies.
