There’s something so classic about a slice of pizza. Whether you’re on the go and need a quick snack or are craving a casual lunch, it just doesn’t get much better—or more convenient—than the handheld slice. Benny Rinaldi’s serves an iconic pizza by the slice, but they have quite a generous interpretation of what a single “slice” entails. The pizzas are made big at Benny’s, and it’s one of those things you just have to experience for yourself.
First, a little background. Benny’s all started in Virginia, where an Italian-born, Brooklyn-raised man named Benedito opened a humble pizza kitchen in his Eastern Shore home. These neighborhood pizzas were such a hit that the concept expanded to become a national sensation with several dozen locations scattered throughout the country. But before you write this place off as a chain restaurant, know that each location is as unique as the neighborhood around it. And that brings us to one of our favorite spots in North Charleston: Benny Rinaldi’s.
Step inside and you’ll discover a laid-back yet decidedly cool restaurant. On the menu, there are a handful of specialty slices to choose from. Classics include cheese, pepperoni, garlic mushroom, and Italian sausage, but keep your eye out for some regional specials, like the BBQ pulled pork pizza. Each slice ranges from about $5 – $7 and could easily be considered an entire meal. Because these aren’t any ordinary slices—they’re cut from a 28-inch pizza.
Of course, you can go ahead and order an entire pizza too, which would be perfect for an epic family game night or a get-together with friends. Just be prepared for some logistics; the slices are so big that they easily require two standard plates. Of course, that’s all part of the fun!
Benny Rinaldi’s has only been open since 2022, but it’s quickly garnered a place in the North Charleston neighborhood as a fantastic place to try the “largest slices in the lowcountry.” There’s even a taproom in the back if you prefer to enjoy your pizza at the restaurant.
And the reviews speak for themselves! Here’s what one recent visitor had to share:
“We [saw] folks carrying out the largest pizza boxes I’ve ever seen. We had to stop…The perfect crunchy crust. Not greasy at all. The toppings were plentiful, and it was surprisingly affordable…This actually makes it in my all-time top 5 spots I’ve rated and tried.”
Have you been to a Benny’s location before? If not, it’s high time you planned a trip to Benny Rinaldi’s.
