Expanded reading program closing literacy gaps in Charleston County classrooms

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Some Charleston County elementary schools are getting a powerful new tool to help young students learn to read.

In partnership with the Lowcountry Literacy Project, Charleston County School District is launching a multi-year teacher training initiative at two Title 1 Elevation schools: Matilda Dunston and Ladson Elementary Schools.
