Polk County Sheriff’s Office charges a man with multiple felonies, including interfering with a train and battery on a law enforcement officer, following a chaotic incident in Mulberry.
An illegal immigrant, Josue Castaneda-Castro, 38, was arrested Saturday evening after a bizarre and violent confrontation that began with a train obstruction and ended with him allegedly attacking a police dog.
According to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident highlights multiple public safety threats, including the dangers of interfering with railway operations and the violent resistance against law enforcement.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 30, deputies were called to the scene near the intersection of State Road 37 South and Railroad Avenue after receiving reports of a man interfering with a CSX train. According to the conductor, a black Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Castaneda-Castro, drove parallel to the train before cutting in front of it.
