TAMA COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Tama County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of scammers posing as deputies and demanding payment from victims. The sheriff’s office said in this scam, the scammer calls the victim posing as a Tama County deputy. Then the scammer demands payment of $22,000 for a supposed bail payment. Officials are reminding the public that no law enforcement agency will contact someone directly and demand money. Anyone who receives a phone call like this should hang up immediately. Anyone who has been a victim of this scam, or has questions, should contact the Tama County Sheriff’s Department at 641-484-3760.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – A Marion man is facing multiple charges after Iowa City Police say showed a gun during an argument on the Ped Mall. 20-year-old Levi James Earl Heinzerling was arrested early Sunday morning. According to a criminal complaint, Heinzerling had gotten into an argument with a group of people when witnesses say he displayed a gun. Officers found a handgun in his waistband. Heinzerling has also admitted to drinking.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCCI/KCRG) – University of Iowa Health Care is expanding its life-support capabilities onboard its helicopters. University of Iowa Health Care has expanded its AirCare program to include helicopter transport for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patients. It is the only hospital in Iowa to have an ECMO AirCare Team. The hospital says the expansion will boost its ability to save patients with severe heart and lung failure. It is designed to help move patients from referral hospitals to University of Iowa Health Care. The team will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can reach patients within a 170-mile radius of Iowa City. The ECMO AirCare Team became available starting on September 1…
