Officials in Brown County report rise in theft from parked vehicles, urging residents to build habits to prevent incidents

BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Brown County and Allouez are urging residents to build proper habits to prevent thefts from unlocked vehicles.

The Village of Allouez and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office have seen a rise in reported thefts from unlocked and parked vehicles.

The following steps were provided as ways to combat these incidents:

  • Build up the habit of locking a vehicle every day, especially at night
  • Always take your keys with you
  • Do not leave valuables inside or visible
  • Do not leave money in the vehicle
  • Park in a well-lit space
