TEXAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Wings West, a youth sports ice rink near Kalamazoo, will close this month after a “severe failure” at its ice plant, it says.
“This summer, the Wings West ice plant suffered a severe failure that has been under extensive review. After careful consideration with our property owner, Catalyst Development, we must share the very difficult news that the Wings West facility, including Old Burdick’s at Wings West, will close following our last day of service on Friday, September 12,” read a post on Wings West’s social media page Tuesday.
The rink had already been closed for maintenance since June 23. It was supposed to reopen July 10 but that was pushed back due to “ongoing maintenance” and instead, all events, leagues, practices, public skates and hockey were moved to the Wings Event Center…
