High-Speed Chase Leads to Arrest of Washington Man in Stanislaus County

In a high-speed chase that took place over the weekend, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies have made an arrest following a risky pursuit that began on Highway 99. The Sheriff’s Office reported in a Facebook post that the ordeal started when a vehicle, clocked at speeds breaching 100 miles per hour, was noticed zooming through Merced County and continued into Stanislaus County.

The pursuit, which started around 2:00 p.m. last Sunday, resulted in the suspect crashing into an unoccupied vehicle after refusing to stop for a deputy who had engaged emergency lights and siren. The suspect, identified as Cory Chance, a 33-year-old from Everett, Washington, attempted to evade the authorities on foot, darting beneath a parked truck before he was spotted by the Sheriff’s Office unmanned aerial system (UAS)…
