Truck driver critically injured in I-95 crash near Newark

A truck driver was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 95 near Newark early Monday.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Otts Chapel Road overpass, authorities said. A box truck went over the guardrail and hit a concrete overpass support column.

The 54-year-old driver was trapped in the cab, which was lodged against the column. Firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company, Christina Fire Company and Singerly Fire Company freed him after approximately an hour of work…
