When it rains, it pours for Longhorn football fans. Despite only losing by one touchdown to a top-3 team in week one, the AP Poll currently has Texas ranked all the way down at No.7 heading into their home opener against San Jose State this weekend.
Needless to say, it’s incredibly disappointing and embarrassing to see where this football team is right now compared to their confidence and momentum heading into the 2025 season. All it took was one game against an elite opponent to humble them in multiple aspects.

Though remaining in the top 10 could be seen as a small “win”, their opponents over the next few weeks won’t help them move the needle much from a national rankings aspect. The Longhorns face San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston in weeks 2, 3, and 4, and even if they go 3-0 in that span, they might only move up 1-2 spots…
