Governors declare National Blood Donation Week amid critical shortage

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — In response to a critical blood shortage, governors across the United States, including Sarah Huckabee Sanders, have declared this week as National Blood Donation Week, with Thursday, September 4, being designated as National Blood Donation Day.

Lindsey Beaver, Executive Director of the Our Blood Institute in Little Rock, explained the reasons behind the shortage.

“During the summer, we’re coming off of the summer, and schools are just now getting back in. A lot of our collections do come from our high schools and colleges. And so with that taking place, you know, we do see a decline in our collections throughout our summer months,” she said…
