NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office announced the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center passed the American Correctional Association last week for their annual audit.
The American Correctional Association is a comprehensive evaluation of a correctional facility or agency against national, performance-based standards, encompassing administration, physical plant, operations, security, offender programs and staff training. The audit was conducted from Aug. 25 through Aug. 28.
Facilities are assessed through inspections, policy reviews and data collection to make sure the sheriff’s office meets the gold standard for corrections and achieves accreditation. Auditors from the ACA also reviewed the recommended findings with staff from the detention center…
