North Charleston chase ends in crash; man accused of having stolen IDs, docs

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – North Charleston Police say a man is facing charges after leading them on a chase that ended in a crash and the discovery of stolen documents and license plates.

Randy Scott Villarreal, 39, is charged with three counts of financial transaction card theft, hit-and-run that damaged a car and failure to stop for blue lights.

Police say Villarreal was observed Saturday around 9 p.m. speeding on Remount Road near Rivers Avenue.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but Villarreal allegedly ignored the lights, ran a red light and hit another car before fleeing down I-26 west at speeds of 80 to 90 mph. Police say he continued to flee even after his rear tire blew out…
