The City of Fayetteville is proud to welcome the descendants of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division—immortalized in the Emmy Award-winning HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers”—for their 79th reunion. The commemorative gathering will include a special evening program, “Remembering the Band of Brothers,” hosted at the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum (ASOM) on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 6;00 to 8:00 p.m.
The real-life relatives of Mike Ranney, Eugene “Doc” Roe, Lynn “Buck” Compton, George Luz, Don Malarkey, Alex Penkala, Charles Rinehart and Walter Gordon—heroes portrayed in “Band of Brothers”—will be in attendance, offering an opportunity for the public to connect directly with the families who carry forward their stories. A highlight of the program will be “Through the Eyes of My Father,” a powerful presentation by George Luz Jr., son of the late George Luz, sharing personal reflections on his father’s service.
The U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum, located in the heart of downtown Fayetteville, serves as the U.S. Army’s only museum not situated on a military base. Through immersive exhibits, artifact displays and life-size dioramas, the museum chronicles over 80 years of U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations history, from World War II to present-day missions.
