MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Firefighters successfully contained a nearly 300-acre wildfire that broke out in Madera County early Tuesday morning.
According to Cal Fire, the Canal Fire ignited just after 4:40 a.m. near Road 26 and Avenue 26, north of Madera Acres.
The Garnet Fire’s biggest threat as acreage reaches 25,000
By 8:30 a.m., crews say fire reached its peak at 272 acres, initially threatening the surrounding area along the Madera Canal. By 12 p.m., the fire was fully contained.
Fire crews report they will be in the area cleaning up for the next two to three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation…
