HERNANDO COUNTY — A Largo woman faces child neglect and drug charges after she left a young child alone in a hotel room to smoke marijuana in her car, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Aug. 31 at about 9:15 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff deputies responded to the Microtel on Commercial Way in Spring Hill regarding a young child who was found wandering the hotel lobby. The 4-year-old child had been wandering the lobby, unsupervised, for about 25 minutes.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located the child in the lobby. A few minutes later, the child’s mother, Cheyenne Mamagona, 25, entered the hotel lobby, and the child ran toward her mother.
Mamagona, who lives in Largo, told deputies she had stepped outside of her hotel room to go smoke marijuana in her vehicle. Mamagona does not possess a medical marijuana card. Mamagona further advised that she did not see her daughter leave the hotel room…
