Novato leans toward stronger tenant protections

Novato is moving forward with a just-cause eviction ordinance.

The ordinance would outline circumstances for eviction and aim to strengthen renter protections beyond what state law requires. California law outlines minimum tenant protections such as limiting annual rent increases to up to 10%. The law sunsets in 2030.
