El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Reports 35 Arrests in Labor Day DWI Crackdown

Over the Labor Day weekend, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office launched a major crackdown on impaired driving in an operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Sheriff Oscar Ugarte reported that during the multi-day operation, deputies conducted more than 160 traffic stops, which led to 35 arrests, including 26 for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). As obtained by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Ugarte emphasized, “We are seeing numbers slowly decrease during these operations, which shows the message is getting out to the community.”

The initiative aimed to ensure safer roads and to work closely to strictly enforce existing DWI laws. The El Paso Police Department, Clint Police Department, Horizon Police Department, Anthony Police Department, Socorro Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the El Paso County Constables Offices were all part of the collaborative effort.
