WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – An inmate died at the Sedgwick County Jail.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said a 63-year-old man was found unresponsive in a cell on Tuesday around 10 p.m. Detention staff and on-site medical personnel immediately began life-saving measures. Sedgwick County EMS and the Wichita Fire Department responded and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m.
The inmate, from Blanchard, Oklahoma, had been in custody since Jun 21, 2025, on charges of aggravated assault, criminal threat, violation of a protective order, and possession of narcotics.
