Augusta’s canal still in rough shape after Hurricane Helene

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Savannah River Canal is just one of the things we’re working to get back to normal after Hurricane Helene changed everything for our area.

And it’s not gonna be cheap. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars in work to restore the canal to its former state, including its role in generating power.

For centuries, the Savannah Rapids trails have provided serenity to the CSRA, but most of the path has been closed…
