Teenagers on high-powered electric bikes are raising safety concerns in South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In south Charlotte, neighborhood families say they’re noticing a new sound on their streets: the roars of electric bikes.

They said riders are often teenagers, with some going as fast as 50 miles an hour.

“There are lots of middle schoolers out there doing wheelies and not paying attention to people on the sidewalks. They’re in the streets,” said one neighbor…
