CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi’s billion–dollar desalination dream just dried up. After more than a decade of planning, City Council voted to kill the Inner Harbor desal plant, leaving water officials scrambling for a backup plan.
Outgoing Corpus Christi Water COO Drew Molly didn’t mince words, saying his team has followed orders for years only to see the mission abruptly abandoned.
“Staff is really good when we get clear direction and we’ve had clear direction for the last 10 years about what the mission is and we have executed that very, very well,” Molly said. “And now to be told that that mission has been aborted and we need to go do something else. What exactly? I’m not entirely sure.”…
