JACKSON COUNTY, Mo. (TCN) — A 21-year-old woman faces charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenage girl who was at a sleepover.
According to a probable cause statement, on Aug. 9, Kansas City Police responded to a home to a report of a possible shooting. At the scene, they found a juvenile, identified by KSHB-TV as 16-year-old Traelynn Sibley, in the bathroom suffering from a gunshot wound to her throat. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The victim and another female were reportedly fixing each other’s hair at a vanity while two men were playing video games in the living room. Authorities noted that a toddler was also in the residence. The witnesses allegedly heard gunshots and noticed bullets entering the home through the front door and living room wall area.
