BLUE MOUNDS, Wis. (WMTV) – Newly released regulatory and inspection records detail more than 300 alleged violations at Ridglan Farms, a Blue Mounds dog breeder that supplies beagles for medical research.
The documents show the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has cited Ridglan for 308 counts of mistreating dogs and three counts of failing to perform required daily health checks dating back to 2022. DATCP has proposed a civil forfeiture of $55,148.50 in fines and fees.
Ridglan Farms has been given the option to agree to a civil forfeiture stipulation, which would resolve the violations without going to trial. If the facility accepts, it would be agreeing to the proposed penalties. If it declines, the case could move into Dane County Circuit Court, where the outcome could vary.
