UNM’s duck pond celebrates reopening, new upgrades added

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — After nine months of being closed for upgrades, the UNM duck pond is open once again to students, visitors, and ducks.

Work crews have been busy building a new bridge, an improved pond liner, and installing a UV system that kills harmful algae and microorganisms. “What has struck me most about the duck pond is how often it comes up with alumni,” said Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration Teresa Costantinidis. “Almost everyone has a memory here.
