ALBANY — Last month, a Jewish homeowner discovered someone had defaced the entire sidewalk outside their home with antisemitic graffiti.
It was at least the second antisemitic incident reported within the city in the last month. In response, Mayor Kathy Sheehan, elected leaders and members of the Jewish and LGBTQ communities held a news conference Tuesday, urging residents to report any incidents to city police.
“I could not wait any longer, because members of the Jewish community, in many instances, have been suffering in silence,” Sheehan said before adding, “this cannot stand, not here in the city of Albany, not anywhere in this county.”…
