ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown City Councilmember Ce-Ce Gerlach took issue Wednesday night with what she described as the administration’s disrespect towards council’s request for an update on the plan to relocate a homeless encampment along the Jordan Creek.
“It’s going to get worse. Met a lady the other day, and she’s got $10 to feed herself, her two teenage sons, and her rent is still due,” Gerlach said. “It’s going to get worse. We’ve got to figure something out…let’s do something. We shared that urgency; we collectively did that. The administration has got to reciprocate that.”
On Aug. 7, the city announced it would post notices to inform those living along the Jordan Creek in Jordan Creek Meadows that they must vacate the site, as the city says it’s an active flood zone that is posing a danger to the residents of the encampment…
