City of Charleston invites public to discuss future of major one-way streets

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The City of Charleston is inviting residents to weigh in on a long-debated topic: the potential of some downtown one-way streets becoming two-way again.

Officials aren’t proposing any changes— at least, not yet. The goal of Thursday night’s meeting is to share the results of a recently completed traffic study and give the public a chance to respond.

The study focused on the potential conversion of Coming Street, Rutledge Avenue and Ashley Avenue, all major corridors on the Charleston peninsula that currently run one way, into streets that support two-way traffic…
