North Carolina police department employee accused of defrauding domestic violence victims

SILER CITY, N.C. (WNCN) — A Siler City Police Department employee is the suspect of a fraud case in which the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations claims she defrauded domestic violence victims she was supposed to be helping.

In a news release from the NCSBI on Wednesday afternoon, the bureau said it was contacted by Siler City police to investigate claims of an employee obtaining property under false pretenses.

Fifty-seven-year-old Gloria Maldonado was the subject of the investigation, according to the NCSBI. The bureau said she is a domestic violence advocate with the police department. The police department said she has been an employee since 2015…
