Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for deadly stabbing on Joseph Avenue in 2024

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision for a stabbing on Joseph Avenue in 2024 that killed a 31-year-old man.

On Aug. 20, 2024, Rochester Police officers say they responded to Joseph Avenue and Seabrook Street where they found Brandon Wyand with a stab wound in the upper body. Wyand was brought to a local hospital where he later died.

After an investigation by the Rochester Police Department, they determined Justin Porter was responsible for stabbing Wyand and arrested him…
