Video of a physical altercation involving four students at Islands High School, 170 Whitemarsh Island Road, appeared on various social media accounts this weekend. The four students directly involved were all female. The video depicts two students approaching other students, who appear to have been unaware of the first two drawing near. The students who initiated the altercation did so by pulling the unsuspecting students’ hair and hitting them with open and closed hands.
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System officials confirmed that the incident did occur last week but did not state when. An official statement from the district provided by Public Information Manager Sheila Blanco read that the district’s Board of Public Education Police Department (BOEPD) is actively investigating the incident.
