As the first days of school approached, dozens of school children lined up for free haircuts, braids, and fresh styles courtesy of the Hair Ministry & Co. Salon in Darby Borough on Aug. 28. The eight-hour “Back-to-School Hair and Style Day,” sponsored by the Darby Borough Police Department, also treated kids to complimentary school supplies, pizza, hoagies, soft pretzels, and gift bags.
“It was about making sure no kid was left out,” said salon owner Sabrina Boone, who opened her doors early to accommodate as many children as possible. “We didn’t want to turn anybody away. This year, we had a bigger turnout than last year, and the smiles on the kids’ faces made it all worth it.”
