Little Rock church aiming to make a difference feeds hundreds in need

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – On each Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m., the traffic coming into Highland Valley United Methodist church is heavy.  Pastor Mark Norman says they serve about 300 households each week, and their food orders are as much as 17 to 18 pounds each week.

The food giveaway is a tradition that started in 2020 during Sunday school, and now it’s making a difference to hundreds of families in need of food.

“For it to start in a Sunday school class and move to a warehouse that has freezers and refrigerators, I mean, it’s just amazing,” Norman said.

After people enter the front of the church, they drive back to the warehouse to get a bag or sometimes multiple bags of food, depending on their family size…
