70-year-old man beaten by teenager during attempted robbery in west suburban Aurora last week, police say

AURORA, Ill. — A 70-year-old man was beaten by a teenager during an attempted robbery last week in west suburban Aurora, according to police, who called the incident “a violent, unprovoked attack.”

The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Aurora, has been taken into custody and charged with multiple crimes, the Aurora Police Department says.

According to police, officers responding to a report of an attempted robbery and aggravated battery around 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of West Galena Boulevard found the 70-year-old victim with significant facial injuries, including swelling to both eyes and a laceration.
