Weather Authority Alert: Heavy rain possible with Lorena — Your 9-Day Forecast

Thursday will be a beautiful day with mostly cloudy skies. If we get anything Thursday, it should be no more than a few drops here or there… nothing major. I always like to give you the worst case scenario, and so that’s what I’ve calculated with this forecast for the approaching Hurricane Lorena.

Hopefully, we’ll get just the right amount of rain without flooding, but we need to be aware of what could happen this weekend. Here’s your exclusive 9-Hour Forecast for Thursday with your 9-Day Forecast below.

TONIGHT:   The skies will be partly to mostly cloudy through the night.  What you see are the very outer bands of approaching Hurricane Lorena.  The S winds will range from 5-10 mph, and the low will drop to 72.

FORECAST:  KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to the potential for heavy rainfall starting Friday evening through Saturday 3 PM.  Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy and cooler with a high of 89.   The SW winds will range from 5-20 mph… a little breezy at times.  We should see no more than a few drops on Thursday. Friday will be mostly cloudy to overcast as the remnants of Lorena pass into southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico.  Expect periodic rain showers on and off and a cooler day with a high of 79 due to the thick cloud cover.  Winds will shift NE at 5-20 mph.  The chance for heavier rainfall increases Friday evening.  Saturday will be cloudy with scattered showers and t-showers and the potential for heavy rainfall.  The remnant core will pass right over Las Cruces Saturday morning, and both Las Cruces and El Paso are under the threat of heavy rain.  By late Saturday evening, the rain will stop and the clouds will slowly clear.  Saturday’s high: 80.  (I’ll be watching and updating each day on this situation.)  Sunday will be mostly sunny and beautiful with a high of 90. Monday will be sunny and 93.  Tuesday will be sunny and 94…
